  • GEORGE FLETT

    ACTING CHAIR

    George was born in Vancouver and is an Indigenous man belonging to both the Saulteaux Nation and the Metis Peoples. George has a Chemical Addiction Worker Diploma through Nicola Valley Institute of Technology. He has worked in the social service field for over 12 years. He has worked as a counsellor, a shelter worker, outreach worker, Indigenous Cultural and Spiritual Worker, Support Worker, Case Manager, and currently as a Shelter Manager. He has been a volunteer at Indigenous’ organizations for many years.

  • FIONA YORK

    Fiona has worked in non-profits for over twenty years and has worked and volunteered in the Downtown Eastside for more than ten years as a Tenant Support Worker and a community organizer. She has a background in communications, fund development, grant writing and non-profit administration and currently provides frontline support for homeless people in tent cities. She studied Mental Health at Douglas College and Substance Use at the Justice Institute.

  • DIVISHANI BANGAAR

    Div is a passionate advocate for impactful social change. Armed with a Bachelor's degree in Adult Education, she is currently on the journey to completing an MBA from SFU, enriching her skills to create an even more significant impact. Div actively pursues opportunities to apply her expertise, and is committed to fostering positive transformations in both her immediate community and the wider world.

  • CRAIG HATHAWAY

    Craig Hathaway retired in 2005 following a career teaching in several Canadian colleges and universities. He was also founder and director of C. Thomas Hathaway Associates which provided social research and consulting services to Federal, Provincial and Municipal organizations, focusing primarily on Justice System issues. Following retirement Craig has been an active participant and financial supporter with numerous DTES groups.

  • DOUG HETHERINGTON

    Doug is a long-time advocate working on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, and has over 10 years of experience with the Lookout Aid Society and his current position working in concurrent disorders recovery support with the RainCity Housing and Support Society. Doug has served on the board of the Dugout since 2015.

  • Chrystina Mitchell

    Chrystina brings fifteen years of experience in the biotechnology field in Vancouver and is currently pursuing an MBA from Simon Fraser University. Alongside her professional journey, she is deeply committed to volunteerism, reflecting a strong academic foundation and a profound dedication to community service.

    Driven by a belief in the transformative power of education and social support, Chrystina is eager to leverage her academic and practical insights to contribute effectively to the Dugout's mission.
