SAFE SPACE

The Dugout provides a community living room where people can spend time off the streets or away from their hostel or single-room accommodation. Throughout the day guests enjoy snacks, TV, coffee, and conversation. We also offer free access to computers connected to the internet so our guests can do research and communicate with friends and family.

FIRST HOT MEAL OF THE DAY

Each day, about 200 people enjoy nourishing homemade soup and fresh coffee provided by the familiar staff at the Dugout. Bread and other baked goods donated by local businesses and the Vancouver Food Bank are also provided free of charge. We offer our hot morning meal at 7:30 am seven days a week, 365 days a year.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS MEETINGS

The Dugout has hosted an Alcoholics Anonymous group, “The Out to Lunch Bunch,” since 1968. “The Out to Lunch Bunch” meets on Fridays and Sundays from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.

EVENING PROGRAMS

For decades, the Dugout has been unable to open in the evenings due to underfunding. But the need is tremendous and we are planning to offer evening programs again! With financial support we can offer movie nights, meetings and entertainment for our guests.

GET INVOLVED

Every donation, no matter how small, goes a long way to serving those in the Downtown Eastside.
